Peacebuilding: Theory and Action (CBL)

Peacebuilding: Theory and Action (CBL)

Peacebuilding: Theory and Action (CBL) is a two-trimester Upper School History and Social Sciences elective taught by Ms. Corcoran. The course focuses on the main concepts and challenges that shape the work in the peacebuilding field. Students reflect on their own potential to be peacebuilders in local, regional, and global communities and design and implement a peacebuilding project around a conflict of their own choosing as part of the course's community-based learning component.

For their final project, Cody L. ‘27 and Bella F. ‘28 led a community incentive focused on spreading awareness about cyclists’ rights and responsibilities on the road. Their goal is to educate both cyclists and drivers on the importance of sharing the road and the laws governing cyclists. Cody and Bella handed out the informational flyer above at last week’s Downtown Bentonville First Friday event. They believe that by raising awareness, promoting safe driving habits, and advocating for mutual understanding between motorists and cyclists, they can reduce accidents and create stronger, safer communities.
