Luke R. Speaks at Arkansas Chapter Meeting of The White Line

On January 19, Luke R. ’27 spoke at the inaugural meeting of the Arkansas chapter of The White Line. Advocating for improved road safety through awareness and education, the organization was founded in 2023 after cyclist Magnus White was fatally hit by a negligent driver.

As a passionate cyclist himself, Luke values The White Line's mission "to end road deaths and create safer streets for everyone – cyclists, pedestrians, and drivers alike." He shared about his own experience as a victim of driver negligence:

“Around Thanksgiving, I was riding my bike when a car behind me made a right turn and hit me. The driver admitted to seeing me but made the turn anyway... I don’t even remember being hit; I was found on the side of the road. It was terrifying, and it’s been a long road to recovery."

Luke’s experience underscores The White Line’s mission and the importance of community involvement in creating safer roads. By attending the chapter’s inaugural meeting and sharing his story, Luke is helping turn a personal trauma into advocacy – raising awareness and reminding us that safer streets depend on shared responsibility and collective action.
